English For Fun

The "English for Fun" program at Darwin Skills Development Scheme (DSDS) is an initiative funded by the Scanlon Foundation, a philanthropic organisation dedicated to fostering social cohesion. This program supports participants from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds who face barriers to social and community engagement due to limited English proficiency.

The program focuses on improving conversational and written English through structured activities, themed discussions, and community outings. Participants also build digital literacy skills and contribute to a publication reflecting their cultural diversity and experiences.

By enhancing language skills, confidence, and independence, the program enables participants to navigate day-to-day tasks, build networks, and integrate meaningfully into the Darwin community. It stands as a testament to DSDS’s commitment to empowering individuals and promoting inclusion.
